Trial access to Italian-language titles on Casalini’s Torrossa ebooks platform

torrossaCambridge University Library is pleased to announce that trial access is now available to 113 Italian-language titles on Casalini Libri’s Torrossa ebooks platform. Three current collections of scholarly titles are included in this trial; Language and Literature (49 ebooks), Cinema and Theatre (40), and Cultural Studies (30). Six titles are included in more than one collection.

The ebooks are available from the platform link here and are searchable in the LibrarySearch catalogue. Full-text access is available both on and off campus (using a Raven login).

Torrossa ebooks can be read on PCs, Apple Macs, laptops, iOS and Android mobile devices, but not on Kindles, Kobos or Nooks. There will be no download, print or copy & paste capability during the trial period, but if the University Library decides to purchase these collections then all of these functions will be enabled.

To open the ebooks and read online, select a title by subject, by title or by publisher, and then click on a part or chapter of the title on the right-hand side of the screen. You should then be able to click on Full text button to open the PDF up in Adobe.

If you have problems opening Torrossa PDFs in Firefox, try following these steps in the browser: Tools – Options – Applications – in the Search box type PDF – highlight Portable Document Format (PDF) on the left-hand side & choose Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) on the right-hand side of the screen – click OK.

There is also help available from the FAQ section on the ebooks platform.

The trial will remain available until Wednesday 15th January.

The ebooks@cambridge team and the Italian Specialist at the University Library are interested to receive feedback on the usability of these ebooks, and any comments on the content covered would also be very helpful. Please email either ebooks@lib.cam.ac.uk or italian@lib.cam.ac.uk. Any feedback received will be considered in addition to a review of usage statistics which will be analyzed near the end of the trial period.
