Kortext’s Free Student eTextbook Programme (FSTP)

Kortext, a UK based eTextbook provider, have joined with Jisc, the UK’s not for profit education and research services provider, to launch the Free Student eTextbook Programme (FSTP). Cambridge University Libraries have registered with this scheme, and your library staff are busy liaising with Kortext to develop a growing and bespoke collection of textbooks which University of Cambridge registered students and staff can access online until the 31st of July 2020.

Textbook titles published by key academic publishers including Pearson, Cengage, Taylor & Francis, John Wiley & Sons, Macmillan Education, SAGE Publishing, McGraw Hill Education, Oxford University Press, Elsevier and many others will be included in this collection. The titles are available for unlimited concurrent use and there are no restrictions on how many titles you can consult and keep on your Kortext bookshelf.

At the moment the available bespoke collection is relatively small, but it will soon increase in size and scope, to include titles from prestigious academic series such as Oxford World’s Classics, Blackstone’s Statutes, and many many more of Cambridge’s most popular reading list titles.

To access all of the available titles, please click on the link below which will take you to an alphabetically arranged title list;

If you find a book you are interested in, click once on the appropriate hyperlink and then click on the link that appears above the link box. If it’s your first time logging in to Kortext this will take you to the page shown below, where you will need to type Cambridge in the box asking for the name of your organisation. You will then have the option to select University of Cambridge.

You will be taken via your Raven login to the following form where you can create a personal account on Kortext. If you already have a Kortext account then you can opt to sign in rather than register a new account. Please ensure you use your @cam email address to create your account.

After you’ve signed up you will be able to access the full text of the book. Once inside a book, you can search for key terms, add highlights and bookmarks, print a number of pages, create personal notes and insert links to other content as well as collaborating with your peers. Once you you have consulted a title, it will remain on your own personalised bookshelf until the 30th June 2020.

A small selection of textbook titles from those which are available now are displayed below. More titles will be added on a regular basis so please keep revisiting the title list to check for updates in your subject. Unfortunately it won’t be possible to make available title records searchable in iDiscover.
