The University of Cambridge has trial access to Elsevier’s ClinicalKey Student collection until the newly extended end date of the 31st of August 2020. The platform can be accessed from the following link;

ClinicalKey Student is an innovative portfolio of ebooks, images and videos combined with interactive tools and analytics to support teaching and learning in UK medical programmes. In particular, the ability to create and share links to selected readings, videos and copyright cleared images allows academics to guide students through their required learning.
Users are required to create a personal profile to access content on the site. A personal profile also enables users to use Bookshelf (with highlighting, note-making, and bookmarking functionality), share notes/highlighting, and export notes to OneNote.
University of Cambridge users will need to create a personal profile on the site via their Raven credentials. When creating an account ensure you click on “Log in via your institution” under More Options on the right-hand side of the screen. See the image below.

You will be taken to a new screen where you need to start typing “Cambridge” into the top search box, this should bring up the choice of “University of Cambridge” immediately below the box which you need to select with your cursor. See the image below.

You should then be directed to the usual Raven login page, where you need to enter your details. Then you have one more choice to make. Assuming you are accessing the resource outside of the University of Cambridge, select the “University of Cambridge, Shibboleth” option and continue on to the site.

Once you are logged in you could start by browsing the lists of textbooks, images and videos. Titles include Rang & Dale’s Pharmacology, Kumar and Clark’s Clinical Medicine, Davidson’s Principles and Practice of Medicine and MacLeod’s Clinical Examination.

If you want to consult within a book title, just click on a title. You can select either to read it online within your browser, or if you want to read it offline, highlight and bookmark sections, take and export notes, create flashcards or share content with your peers, then you can launch the Bookshelf feature from within any part of the book. The image below shows inside Gray’s Anatomy by Susan Standring from within Bookshelf.

You can also explore the other parts of the site; you could create a presentation using content found on ClinicalKey, or set questions to test yourself with at a later date, within the Assignments tab.
